Wednesday the 23rd we got to bring our little angel to her new home. Grandma McLaws was there to help us (THANKS MOM) through the first few nights. Jack and Brianna were so excited to hold her and help in any way. I gave them each a special job. Jack gets to help with diaper changes. He gets all the supplies for me and then is the garbage man. Brianna is in charge of keeping her happy by giving her the paci and "pushing" her in the swing. Brianna also gets to sit by her in the car and gets to help by putting the paci back in while in the car. Both big kids like to rub her head while she's nursing to help keep her awake long enough to finish her feeding.

July 22, 2008

Megan's Birthday was a wonderful day. It all started Monday evening when Mommy and Daddy decided to call the doctor and go to the hospital. The contractions were coming and we were scheduled to be induced the next morning. Mommy's body worked hard all night and at 4:30 am the nurse started the pitocin to get things rolling. By 6:30 we were in full Labor and mommy met the wonderful Epidural man. The doctor broke my water at 8am and Megan Kaye joined our family at 8:30 am weighing in at 7lbs 5oz and 21 inches long. Mommy and Daddy are so Proud! We spent the day deciding on a name, making phone calls and taking care of mommy and baby. Later that evening we were visited by Grandma and Grandpa McLaws who brought big brother Jack and big sister Brianna to meet their new sister. Grandma Jensen and Aunt Christy also came to meet our sweet little Megan. If you'd like to see more pictures of the past few days go to our family web album listed below.

Summer Fun

This summer has, so far, been a blast. We have had lots of new and exciting things going on. The kids have enjoyed swim lessons at the local pool. We've played outside as much as possible on our trampoline, in the sandbox, and out on bikes. We've gotten to hunt skunks from the convenience of our own back patio. We got a tour of a local fire department when we took supplies from the church to help with the flooding. Brianna has broken her elbow, we just got our new Suburban, And Jack even lost his first tooth. We look forward to our new baby sister coming... any day now, and Matt and the kids are excited for the trip they'll be taking in a couple of weeks out to the Jensen Family Reunion in Wyoming and then on to visit Yellowstone. The kids are excited to take a plane ride. Mommy is excited for the quiet time home with the new baby.

Sister Broken Arm

Brianna was so proud of herself. She figured out how to get up on Jack's big boy bike and even figured out how to shift her body back and forth to reach the pedals and cruise around the driveway. "I'm Big" she'd say, "But I'm still little too, but now I'm bigger" Then, Monday night she came screaming in the house and all the information I could gather from the two of them was that Brianna fell off Jack's bike in the grass. She cried and just wanted to lay down on mommy's bed. It was getting late and she hadn't had a nap that day so she fell asleep. The next day she favored it and I figured she sprained it or something, but she didn't seem to be in as much pain as I'd imagined would come along with a break. Later Tuesday afternoon I noticed it starting to swell. Down to Urgent care we go. She was such a cute chatterbox there, talking everyone's ears off. I kept saying, "okay, your supposed to be hurt, remember". After being so brave through the x-rays ( I couldn't go with her because of the pregnancy) it was determined that she had indeed broken her arm just barely above the elbow. They splinted her arm and the next day we'd get to go get her real cast on. Talk about bumming out Summer. No bikes, no trampoline, no swings, no sandbox, and no pool, sprinklers or baths (sponge bath anyone?) So we'll be spending the next 5 weeks coming up with good indoor activities, bless her heart. She's been such a trooper. Hardly complaining at all and taking the adjustments in stride. She's a tough little cookie.

The Big Hunt!

Every year we get together friends and family for the anticipated easter egg hunt. This year it was windy, cold and muddy so we opted to have this years indoors. Everyone had so much fun in all the chaos and no one lacked candy when it was all through.

Oh, to be little and loving candy! This is why we love bleach, right?

Easter Morning

Easter Morning was lots of fun! Jack even almost caught the Easter bunny finishing up some last minute hiding of the real easter eggs. Don't they look cute all dressed up in their fancy new clothes! The kids indulged in some candy for breakfast and then we all tried to be on our best behavior at church. I personally thought that they did pretty good in comparison to some of the other, older children who were also coming off a sugar high. We had no luck getting them to take naps before the big birthday party and the family easter egg hunt began, but oh how we love the jelly beans!

Egg Decorating

Here we are decorating our Easter eggs. Later we made a yummy dessert. Marshmallow=Jesus, Cresent Rolls=cloth to wrap Christ's body in, melted butter= oils, Cinnemon & Sugar= spices, Oven=tomb, 16 min @ 350 = 3 days. It leaves a surprising hole where the marshmallow was and tastes quite yummy all while teaching the story to the kids! TASTY!
