All set up for a great year of learning!Matt's sister Melissa came all the way from Idaho to visit! We only had one day with them so we made the most of it by spending the day together with Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Clint, and Aunt Christy's family. We had a blast at Six Flags riding all kinds of rides (Jack got to go on screaming eagle!), getting wet, enjoying a wonderful picnic, and getting (re)aquainted. It was such a fun day, Thanks Melissa, Darrel, Arthur, Samantha, and Sterling for driving all the way out here to visit us!

We were all thrilled to go on a horse and wagon ride around Nauvoo
We got to go on an actual Oxcart ride! Very neat.
after the Oxcart ride, the kids got to climb around a wagon, and no Brianna, they didn't have steering wheels.
At the blacksmith shop the missionary made a little tiny horse shoe. He gave it to the person who had the closest birthday, which happened to be Megan. Which is perfect because she LOVES shoes. "Meggie, show me your shoe"
We had fun dressing up and pretending to be pioneers at the pioneer pastimes area. Hmm, I wonder what happend to the pictures of me dressed up... too bad.
The kids had a blast playing "house" in the little pioneer cabin, building a "fire", washing and hanging the "laundry", caring for the babies, sweeping the floor, and teaching school. If only I could figure out how to get them to be that helpful at home!
All of these guys (and gals) were SO awesome! The music was so beautiful, and the setting was perfect. I'm so proud of my dad, his determination to learn this skill and develop his wonderful talent. He has worked hard to come this far and his efforts show. How cool is it to say "My dad plays the bagpipes, and he's going to be up at the Nauvoo Pagent"? .....VERY

So, back in June and most of July, my garden was wonderful. Things were green, the bugs were staying at bay, produce was plentiful, and the weeds were few. Then the brutal summer heat struck hard. I let the weeding and pest control slide for a little and before I knew it, I was way overwhelmed. I went through a bad case of "late summer gardening blues" and actually had a lot of guilt for how bad it had gotten. I now have pretty much given up and am just about ready to light a match and wait for next spring. You'll notice the dates on these pictures, I don't want to show you what it looks like now you might get lost in my garden of weed'en. So I'll just sit back are reminisce about when I was so proud of what I'd grown...Okay, so we'll get the apologies out of the way.... So Sorry it's been so long, It's been a fun and busy summer so here's a quick (or maybe not) review!
For Father's day (yes, we're going WAY back) we got a fun new toy, Band Hero for the Wii. We all had fun checking it out, and rocking out. Now, my kids are familiar with classics like, "walking on sunshine" "YMCA" "ABC" (jackson five) and "wannabe" (spice girls) and also, when they hear "she will be loved" or "black horse and a cherry tree" on the car radio they say some comment like "hey, this is a band hero song!"
Of course Daddy shares his new toy with EVERYONE....
