When we first got home, Jack wasn't as into holding the baby as Brianna was. But in a quiet moment when everyone was busy doing something else, Daddy caught big brother being oh so sweet.

VACATION

Old Faithful

Well, Matt and the "big kids" are off on their vacation. They flew out early tuesday morning, had a 3 hour layover in denver and then on to salt lake city. Matt is incredible. Two preschoolers, to carseats, two suitcases and two carry-ons. My props go out to him. He's got more guts than I do. He had the kid's on their little harness "leashes" in the airport so no one went missing. He said that he probably got a hundred "your brilliant" remarks about the leashes. I say that's better than a hundred "your crazy" remarks. They survived the airport experience and the kids were so excited that they got to fly on an airplane. Once they got to Salt Lake City, they spent the day visiting temple square and the conference center. Matt has my camera so I'm sure we'll have plenty of pictures to post once they get back. They then drove up to Idaho and spent the night near rexburg (I think). Wednesday and Thursday they spent cruising around Yellowstone. They got to see old faithful, (I have 2 pictures matt sent me from his phone) several elk, buffalo, bears and squirrels. apparently there was a teeter-totter somewhere along the way as well. I myself can't wait to see the pictures. Matt says little Brianna has had to explain the story of her broken arm to strangers so many times that Jack's become her "voice" and explains for her when she doesn't like the attention. What's that? Brianna... shying away from attention... I never thought that could happen. Last night they drove into Casper Wy and today they will arrive at Martin's cove around lunchtime today. They will spend tonight, tomorrow and Sunday morning camping with all Matt's cousins at the family reunion dressed up in full pioneer clothing (well, not full gear, just as best a look as we could get). Sunday, after church they'll fly home and arrive in the middle of the night (1 or 2 am)

Wednesday the 23rd we got to bring our little angel to her new home. Grandma McLaws was there to help us (THANKS MOM) through the first few nights. Jack and Brianna were so excited to hold her and help in any way. I gave them each a special job. Jack gets to help with diaper changes. He gets all the supplies for me and then is the garbage man. Brianna is in charge of keeping her happy by giving her the paci and "pushing" her in the swing. Brianna also gets to sit by her in the car and gets to help by putting the paci back in while in the car. Both big kids like to rub her head while she's nursing to help keep her awake long enough to finish her feeding.

Megan's Birthday was a wonderful day. It all started Monday evening when Mommy and Daddy decided to call the doctor and go to the hospital. The contractions were coming and we were scheduled to be induced the next morning. Mommy's body worked hard all night and at 4:30 am the nurse started the pitocin to get things rolling. By 6:30 we were in full Labor and mommy met the wonderful Epidural man. The doctor broke my water at 8am and Megan Kaye joined our family at 8:30 am weighing in at 7lbs 5oz and 21 inches long. Mommy and Daddy are so Proud! We spent the day deciding on a name, making phone calls and taking care of mommy and baby. Later that evening we were visited by Grandma and Grandpa McLaws who brought big brother Jack and big sister Brianna to meet their new sister. Grandma Jensen and Aunt Christy also came to meet our sweet little Megan. If you'd like to see more pictures of the past few days go to our family web album listed below.

Summer Fun

This summer has, so far, been a blast. We have had lots of new and exciting things going on. The kids have enjoyed swim lessons at the local pool. We've played outside as much as possible on our trampoline, in the sandbox, and out on bikes. We've gotten to hunt skunks from the convenience of our own back patio. We got a tour of a local fire department when we took supplies from the church to help with the flooding. Brianna has broken her elbow, we just got our new Suburban, And Jack even lost his first tooth. We look forward to our new baby sister coming... any day now, and Matt and the kids are excited for the trip they'll be taking in a couple of weeks out to the Jensen Family Reunion in Wyoming and then on to visit Yellowstone. The kids are excited to take a plane ride. Mommy is excited for the quiet time home with the new baby.

Sister Broken Arm

Brianna was so proud of herself. She figured out how to get up on Jack's big boy bike and even figured out how to shift her body back and forth to reach the pedals and cruise around the driveway. "I'm Big" she'd say, "But I'm still little too, but now I'm bigger" Then, Monday night she came screaming in the house and all the information I could gather from the two of them was that Brianna fell off Jack's bike in the grass. She cried and just wanted to lay down on mommy's bed. It was getting late and she hadn't had a nap that day so she fell asleep. The next day she favored it and I figured she sprained it or something, but she didn't seem to be in as much pain as I'd imagined would come along with a break. Later Tuesday afternoon I noticed it starting to swell. Down to Urgent care we go. She was such a cute chatterbox there, talking everyone's ears off. I kept saying, "okay, your supposed to be hurt, remember". After being so brave through the x-rays ( I couldn't go with her because of the pregnancy) it was determined that she had indeed broken her arm just barely above the elbow. They splinted her arm and the next day we'd get to go get her real cast on. Talk about bumming out Summer. No bikes, no trampoline, no swings, no sandbox, and no pool, sprinklers or baths (sponge bath anyone?) So we'll be spending the next 5 weeks coming up with good indoor activities, bless her heart. She's been such a trooper. Hardly complaining at all and taking the adjustments in stride. She's a tough little cookie.
